JOB SUMMARY  

SEU's Campus Life department is seeking student workers for the 2026-2027 school year (Fall semester). Applicants must be a returning Southeastern University student (freshmen are encouraged to apply) and available to work a part-time schedule.  Please note that this job will be open until positions are filled.  Total hours accumulated cannot exceed 29 hours for regular students and 20 for international students. 

 

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS 

 Reports to: Assistant Director of Campus Life

  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but is not limited to the following:

  • Assists the Campus Life Department in administering certain aspects of student housing:
    • Room inspections 
    • Damage inspections
    • Information logging 
    • Damage reporting and tracking
    • Check-in and Check-out procedures
    • Housing application process for current and incoming students
    • Residence Hall preparation prior to check-in
  • Involved in daily residence and housing tasks
  • Serves as a liaison to the students for Campus Life needs
  • Conducts monthly room inspections of all residence halls for cleanliness and locating facility damage. This duty will require confrontational skills and integral decision making skills.
  • Works to educate residents in proper care of campus facilities.
  • Administers student, faculty, and staff IDs and sets up accounts in access control software
  • Performs various access control tasks such as printing and encoding ID cards, processing new hires, reprogramming doors, addressing lock issues, creating gift cards, etc.
  • Performs office duties including, but not limited to, phone calls, emails, etc.
  • Provides excellent customer service to visitors to the Campus Life office. Interactions may include walk in traffic, telephone, email, and written correspondence. 
  • Assists in overseeing summer housing - rounds, inspections, etc.
  • Assists in preparing for move-in weekend
  • Performs all additional duties assigned by the Director and Assistant Director of Campus Life

 

ADDITIONAL/NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES 

All remaining duties are considered "nonessential" within the context of the ADA, which means that the function could be reassigned to another employee in order to allow a disabled individual to hold the position.  Alternatively, the manager could try to provide a reasonable accommodation so that the disabled individual could perform the function.

EXPERIENCE 

Required:

Experience using Google Suite products.

Preferred:

Prior administrative or clerical experience is desired.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Physical Requirements: 

Sitting: Frequent sitting at a desk or workstation for extended periods.

Computer Use: Constant use of a computer, keyboard, and mouse for data entry and report preparation.

Communication: Frequent verbal and written communication with internal stakeholders.

Vision: Constant visual attention to detail for reviewing documents, data entry, and reading printed and electronic information.

Hearing: Constant listening to understand and interpret verbal communication in meetings, phone calls, and other interactions.

TRAINING

SAFETY 

  • SEU promotes a safe working environment. Employees are responsible for completing assigned tasks safely and efficiently, and supervisors are responsible for creating and maintaining a safe work environment. 
  • Employees must report any unsafe work conditions or practices, as well as any near-miss incidents, to their supervisor and Risk Management. 
  • Work-related injuries must be immediately reported to Security and Human Resources. When life or limb are at risk, please dial 911. Supervisors and employees should ensure that injury/accident reports are submitted to the Office of Human Resources within 24 hours of the incident. 
  • Emergency Employees report for or must remain at work in emergency situations.  Dismissal or closure announcements do not apply to this position, unless instructed otherwise by your direct supervisor or a member of the Leadership Team.  


 

SCREENING

All full-time and some part-time positions at SEU are deemed security-sensitive and require background checks. Employees required to drive their own personal vehicle, a rental car or an SEU vehicle in performance of their duties must pass an MVR records check and meet the requirements of the University’s insurance carrier in order to meet the requirements of the position.
