Key Responsibilities
- Operate Heavy Equipment to dig trenches, cut grade, load/unload trucks, and lay pipe
- Excavate for underground utilities including water, sewer, and storm systems
- Assist with roadway and site development construction
- Perform grading and ensure slope is on grade
- Follow grade stakes, site plans, and directions from field leadership
- Work safely around crews installing utilities and other heavy equipment
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance checks
- Maintain productivity while following all safety requirements
- Proven experience operating excavators or similar heavy equipment (trackhoe, backhoe)
- Ability to read grade stakes or understand site layout
- Ability to work safely on active construction job sites
- Reliable transportation to job sites within the South Metro Atlanta District
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Strong attention to safety and detail
- Dependable with a strong work ethic
- At least 1 year of heavy equipment operating experience
- Experience working on heavy civil, grading, utility, or site development projects
- Experience working around underground utilities
- Experience with GPS machine control systems
