POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Child Watch Attendant maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals, promotes the potential of all youth, and provides a quality experience to both youth and their families
Essential Functions
Mission Advancement: Accepts and demonstrates the Ys values. Demonstrates a desire to serve others and fulfill community needs. Recruits volunteers and builds effective, supportive working relationships with them. Supports fund-raising.

Seeks first to understand the other person’s point of view, and remains calm in challenging situations. Listens for understanding and meaning; speaks and writes effectively. Essential Functions
- Set up daily activities, make sure room is safe before children enter, and report room needs to the designated person.
- Manage entry/exit from child watch room.
- Maintain required program records as required.
- Supervises children ages 6 months to 10 years, program area, and all activities including ADA accommodations where appropriate.
- Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents.
- Learn and attend to special needs of children in the child watch center and understand the concerns of parents regarding their children.
- Maintain program area and equipment.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings and trainings as required.
- Performs other job-related duties as requested and necessary.

Qualifications
- Minimum 16 years old
- Child & Infant CPR and First Aid certification.
- Knowledge of basic child supervision techniques.
- Ability to work with and interact with a diverse group of children and parents.
- All required online trainings must be completed before starting work, which will be compensated for accordingly.
- Criminal record clearance.
- Ability to stand, sit and stoop to attend to a child’s needs.
- Ability to lift minimum of 25 pounds.
- Ability to see and supervise children.
- The physical, visual, and auditory ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Ability to react to emergency situations in an indoor and outdoor environment.
