Assists in the delivery of a high-quality day camp program for children 2.9yrs-4.9yrs old. Provides direct supervision of a group of children and provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.

Assists in the delivery of a high-quality day camp program for children 2.9yrs-4.9yrs old. Provides direct supervision of a group of children and provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
Essential Functions
- Implements curriculum and program activities within the established guidelines.
- Nurtures children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.
- Supervises the children, classroom or site, and all activities including ADA accommodations where appropriate.
- Follows all policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
- Continuously scans a variety of environments and surrounding areas for potential hazards and takes appropriate action to remove or avoid them and informs senior staff.
- Follows water safety guidelines and procedures during camp swim time.
- Participates in camp swim time by being in the water to supervise their group, daily or as needed.
- Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
- Uses positive reinforcement techniques to address children’s behavioral concerns.
- Maintains program site and equipment.
- Maintains required program records.
- Staff may be asked to work at alternate locations depending on the daily staffing needs.
- Attends staff meetings, trainings and completes all assigned on-line trainings.
- Attends and participates in family nights, as well as program activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Minimum 16 years.
- Basic knowledge of acceptable child care and day camp practices.
- Ability to plan and lead program activities.
- All required online training must be completed before starting work.
- CPR & First Aid certifications through a nationally recognized organization. Certifications must be maintained and current at all times.
- Criminal records clearance or up to date Work Permit.
- Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings.
- This position may require the ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time, wade in water in order to supervise children, able to walk continuously at least ½ mile, spend a full workday outdoors in any weather condition.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
