Job Summary
Georgia Source Development is seeking an experienced Steel Fabrication Shop Foreman to oversee the daily operations of our fabrication shop in Chickamauga, Georgia.
This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for overseeing the fabrication of components for pre-engineered/prefabricated metal buildings while managing a small 2–4 person crew.
The ideal candidate will have strong steel fabrication and welding experience, a solid understanding of fabrication shop processes, and the ability to keep projects organized, safe, and moving efficiently. We are looking for someone who can lead a crew while also being willing and able to work alongside them.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all day-to-day operations of the fabrication shop
- Lead, supervise, and work alongside a 2–4 person crew
- Oversee fabrication for prefabricated/pre-engineered metal building projects
- Assign daily tasks and coordinate shop workflow
- Perform and oversee welding, cutting, fitting, measuring, and steel fabrication
- Read and understand fabrication drawings, measurements, and project specifications
- Ensure fabricated components meet project requirements and quality standards
- Monitor materials, tools, equipment, and production needs
- Keep projects organized and progressing according to schedule
- Troubleshoot fabrication and production issues as they arise
- Maintain an organized and productive shop environment
- Communicate project progress, material needs, and potential issues to management
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of shop tools and equipment
- Enforce and follow all required steel fabrication and shop safety procedures
Required Qualifications
- Steel fabrication experience is required
- Welding experience is required
- Strong knowledge of steel fabrication processes and shop operations
- Strong understanding of steel fabrication safety practices is required
- Ability to safely operate common fabrication shop tools and equipment
- Ability to accurately measure, cut, fit, weld, and fabricate steel
- Ability to lead a small crew and maintain productivity
- Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
- Ability to work independently and make day-to-day shop decisions
- Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must have dependable transportation to and from work
- Must be able to pass a drug test
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous foreman, supervisor, or management experience
- Experience fabricating components for pre-engineered or prefabricated metal buildings
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
Schedule
This is a full-time, in-person position based at our Chickamauga fabrication shop.
Regular Schedule: Monday through Friday
Weekends: Saturdays and Sundays as needed based on workload and project schedules
Compensation
Pay range is open and will be based on experience, qualifications, and ability.
