Details
The City of Solon Water Reclamation Department is accepting applications for a Wastewater Operator (I, II, III). Applicants maintaining a Class I, or higher, Wastewater Operators License are preferred. Operators-in-Training will be acceptable whereas the applicant can obtain the proper certification within 2 years from the date of hire. The position responsibilities include performing a wide variety of duties to monitor the physical, chemical and microbiological characteristics of wastewater, performing a variety of tasks in controlling the daily operations of the wastewater treatment facility, operating large trucks, forklifts, pumps, conveyors, blowers, belt filter presses and other equipment utilized in the treatment of wastewater and the maintenance of buildings and grounds.
Qualifications
Applicants are required to possess a high school degree or a GED equivalency certificate. In addition, other requirements include: at least one (1) year of related work experience and the ability to complete Confined Space Entry training and duties within 6 months of hire. Applicants may also be required to participate in vocational or apprenticeship training in related skilled trades.
Comments
This position is Civil Service and a member of the Teamsters Local 436 bargaining unit. The successful applicant will be slotted on Solon’s wage scale based on their certifications and qualifications in accordance with the current collective bargaining agreement with a range of $34.97 - $38.47/hour.
