Job Description:
Under the direction of the Director of Social Services, the Ryan White Eligibility Clerk is primarily responsible for the Ryan White Programs' eligibility financial requirements while assisting the Director of Social Services and staff. The Ryan White Eligibility Clerk demonstrates the ability to be a team player and demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the staff, patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.
Job Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates the ability to understand and accept accountability and responsibility for managing the Ryan White Programs' eligibility financial requirements.
- Confirms correct billing information on all people with HIV (PWH) receiving care at SEMRHI clinics.
- Verifies that insurance information is being checked for PWH prior to their medical appointments.
- Contacts PWH to notify of financial responsibilities for co-pays, cap on charges, etc. prior to scheduled appointments.
- Verifies eligibility and recertification documents for the Ryan White and sliding scale programs along with ensuring valid proof of income, residency, and determination of insurance coverage on all PWH is current and scanned in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Documents Ryan White Program financial information in Epic and CAREWare correctly and consistently.
- Provides accurate Ryan White Program eligibility information to SEMRHI clinics for continuity of care and reporting purposes when needed.
- Educates and refers eligible PWH to Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH), AIDS Drugs Assistance Program (ADAP) for Affordable Care Act (ACA) enrollment during open enrollment or if there is a change in insurance status.
- Collects and enters receipts for cap on charges in EHR and maintains an accurate up-to-date spreadsheet of RW Part C patients only and their cap on charge balance monthly.
- Submits the monthly cap on charges spreadsheet to the Director of Social Services and Director of Insurance by the 10th of the month.
- Accurately documents all financial correspondence related to the Ryan White Programs in EHR in an efficient manner.
- Scans financial documents (i.e., RW eligibility, proof of income, proof of insurance) into EHR at the end of each day.
- Schedules and reschedules patient's appointments upon the provider's request and when needed.
- Understands and adheres to confidentiality relating to receivables, payables, and other financial information of the organization.
- Exhibits efficient organizational skills.
- Demonstrates exceptional knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft office, especially Word and Excel.
- Demonstrates a willingness to assist the Director of Social Services and staff in the daily responsibilities of the department as needed.
- Demonstrates positive personal attributes such as professionalism, honesty, and integrity.
- Maintains prompt and regular attendance.
- Performs related work duties as assigned by supervisor.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- A valid Mississippi driver's license
- Previous experience in a medical office or related setting
- Previous experience with EHR system, Epic
- Excellent computer skills required
- Ability to communicate in English and excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Organizational and planning skills to prioritize work, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and take initiative
- Detail-oriented
- Works independently with limited direct supervision
- Interacts with difficult individuals while maintaining composure
- Able to work cooperatively as a member of a team
- Able to work under stress in a fast-paced environment
Physical and Other Requirements:
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check, drug screen and physical assessment
- Must be willing to do local and out-of-state travel
