Role Description The Sr. Accounting Clerk is a temporary-to-permanent, full-time, on-site role based in Picayune, Mississippi. This position combines foundational clerical accounting responsibilities with enterprise-level proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics AX and Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O). Because D365 F&O is a highly integrated, multi-entity system, the successful candidate must understand not only how to enter and process transactions, but also how those transactions flow through subledgers, affect the general ledger, support department or job costing, and influence broader business operations. The role is responsible for high-volume accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash and bank management, journal processing, invoice matching, reconciliations, discrepancy resolution, and accurate financial recordkeeping. The Sr. Accounting Clerk also supports month-end and year-end close activities, collaborates with internal departments and external vendors or customers, maintains digital documentation within the ERP system, and contributes to reporting and process improvements.
Qualifications
- Microsoft Dynamics AX/D365 F&O: Hands-on experience navigating core financial modules, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Cash and Bank Management.
- Journal and posting experience: Proficiency with vendor invoice journals, non-purchase-order invoices, customer payment journals, and the posting of daily subledger transactions.
- Financial dimensions: Understanding of how financial dimensions and account segments are applied to transactions to support accurate departmental and job costing.
- Three-way matching: Ability to execute or review invoice matching among purchase orders, product receipts, and vendor invoices within the ERP system.
- Transactional accuracy: Demonstrated ability to process a high volume of invoices, expense reports, billing transactions, and related records with exceptional precision and a strong commitment to error prevention.
- Month-end support: Experience assisting accountants with period-close routines by ensuring weekly and monthly transactional journals are complete, posted, reconciled, and cleared on schedule.
- Discrepancy resolution: Strong problem-solving skills to research and resolve vendor billing discrepancies, price variances, payment issues, and other transaction exceptions within the ERP platform.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel: High proficiency with Excel, including use of the D365 F&O “Open in Excel” functionality and Excel Add-in to upload journals in bulk, maintain data, and analyze ERP exports.
- Digital file and data management: Comfort working in a paperless environment, attaching and maintaining supporting documents within D365 records, and processing electronic data interchange (EDI) transactions.
- Education: An associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is highly preferred.
- Experience: Typically, three or more years of dedicated accounting experience, including at least one to two years using Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 or D365 F&O in a mid-sized to large business environment.
- Communication and collaboration: Strong written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively with Accounting, Finance, Procurement, Operations, and other cross-functional teams.
