Southeast Industrial Services provides industrial contracting, industrial insulation, industrial cleaning, and protective coatings services to industrial and commercial clients. We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Project Estimator to help support our continued growth by preparing accurate, competitive bids and developing strong project proposals.
Position Summary
The Industrial Insulation & Coatings Project Estimator will be responsible for reviewing project specifications, preparing cost estimates, evaluating labor and material requirements, and developing competitive proposals for industrial insulation, industrial maintenance, and industrial coatings projects.
The ideal candidate has experience in industrial construction or contracting, understands project costs, and can work closely with project managers, vendors, and customers to ensure accurate and profitable bids.
Key Responsibilities
- Review drawings, specifications, bid packages, and project requirements.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for industrial insulation, equipment insulation, thermal insulation, and protective coatings projects.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and calculate labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and other project costs.
- Request and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes.
- Identify project risks, exclusions, scope gaps, and potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Prepare proposals, bid packages, and supporting documentation for customers.
- Coordinate with operations and project management teams to validate estimates and project execution plans.
- Track bid opportunities, deadlines, and submitted proposals.
- Maintain relationships with customers, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Support project handoffs from estimating to project management.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in industrial construction estimating, industrial insulation, industrial coatings, or a related field preferred.
- Knowledge of industrial insulation systems, equipment insulation, surface preparation, protective coatings, and industrial construction methods.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other estimating or project management software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple bids and meet strict deadlines.
- Self-motivated with a strong focus on accuracy, profitability, and customer service.
Preferred Experience
- Industrial insulation and maintenance projects.
- Industrial painting, abrasive blasting, surface preparation, and protective coating systems.
- Quantity takeoffs, labor productivity calculations, and equipment cost estimating.
- Experience with industrial facilities, manufacturing plants, power generation, or chemical processing facilities.
