Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Doctor of Optometry to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough eye examinations to assess visual acuity and ocular health using medical terminology and physiology knowledge.
- Diagnose and manage a range of eye conditions, including those requiring ophthalmology expertise.
- Prescribe corrective lenses, medications, or other treatments tailored to individual patient needs.
- Maintain detailed and accurate medical records in EMR/EHR systems, ensuring HIPAA compliance.
- Perform vital signs assessments and utilize aseptic techniques during examinations and procedures.
- Educate patients on eye health, preventive care, and available treatment options with a focus on customer service.
- Collaborate with optical staff on sales of eyewear and accessories, providing expert advice based on anatomy knowledge and patient needs.
- Keep up-to-date with advancements in medical coding, ophthalmology practices, and relevant healthcare regulations.
- Ensure a safe clinical environment by adhering to infection control protocols and maintaining equipment hygiene.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid state licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Optometrist.
- Experience or familiarity with ophthalmology, optical practices, pediatrics, and medical records management.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, vital signs assessment, and aseptic techniques.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems and medical coding practices.
- Excellent patient care skills combined with customer service orientation.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations and team members.
