The January Assistant Manager supports the General Manager in overseeing daily operations of January. This role is responsible for delivering elevated, Forbes-level service, while leading service execution, team development, and operational excellence across all meal periods, including Brunch and Tea programs.
Responsibilities
- Support daily restaurant operations while upholding Forbes service standards and Southall brand expectations
- Oversee execution of Brunch and Tea programs, ensuring refined service flow, presentation, and guest experience
- Actively coach and hold team members accountable to Forbes service principles, including anticipatory service and attention to detail
- Assist in training, scheduling, and development of front-of-house team members
- Lead service execution with a focus on consistency, pacing, and luxury hospitality standards
- Partner with culinary and beverage teams to ensure menu knowledge and service alignment across all offerings
- Uphold Southall Operating Criteria, safety standards, and compliance requirements
- Support labor management, scheduling, and operational reporting
- Manage guest feedback and service recovery with professionalism and discretion
- Serve as Manager on Duty and act as General Manager in their absence
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of progressive leadership experience in upscale or luxury restaurant or hospitality environments
- Demonstrated experience supporting or leading daily front-of-house operations with a strong focus on Forbes service standards and refined guest engagement
- Hands-on experience executing Brunch and Tea service, including pacing, presentation, and elevated service rituals
- Proven ability to coach, train, and develop service teams, reinforcing accountability, consistency, and attention to detail
- Experience serving as Manager on Duty, confidently leading service and handling operational decision-making
- Strong collaboration experience with culinary and beverage teams to ensure seamless menu knowledge and service execution
- Working knowledge of labor management, scheduling, and operational reporting
- Experience managing guest feedback and service recovery with professionalism, empathy, and discretion
- Solid understanding of safety, compliance, and hospitality operating standards
Education and Requirements
- 4-year college degree preferred, but combination of education and relevant position training and experience will be considered
- Must be able to push, pull and lift 50 lbs.
- Available to work weekends, evenings and/or holidays
- Must be able to walk and stand for prolonged periods as needed and able to work in all weather conditions
