JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Wellness Center Staff
SUPERVISOR: Healthy Living Director / Wellness Coordinator
GENERAL FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Healthy Living Director & Healthy Living Coordinator, the Wellness Center Staff will build relationships and tend to the needs of members in the Nekoosa Wellness Center.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Wellness Center Staff encourage wellness participation by being informed, energetic, enthusiastic, encouraging and dedicated to the safety and individual needs of members while demonstrating the YMCA’s Core Values of Respect, Responsibility, Honesty and Caring.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Be committed to the mission, goals and core values of the YMCA.
- Ability to build relationships with members and to offer appropriate guidance and encouragement.
- Engage with members in such a way as to promote wellness participation.
- Respond appropriately in various situations in order to safely assist members including: CPR/First Aid Certification is required within first 30 days of employment.
- Wellness Center Staff must have the physical ability to:
o Demonstrate proper use of all strength and cardiovascular equipment in the facility
o stand for long periods
o flexibility and strength in order to bend, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Able to perform preventive maintenance tasks in order to provide a clean and safe environment.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES:
- Welcome and assist members using SMART Service and in accordance with the Y’s Core Values.
- Offer Wellness Center Orientations to ensure safe use and programming.
- Develop positive relationships with members and provide motivational support and guidance.
- Enforce all policies and procedures of the YMCA facility.
- Identify and perform preventive maintenance tasks in the entire facility as needed.
- Assist in supervising activities throughout the facility as needed.
Pay: From $10.30 per hour
