What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager on Duty position at South Wood County YMCA?
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manager on Duty will be responsible for engaging members and staff using the Y’s service and engagement principles and for supervising the YMCA building and grounds. This person must be able to supervise staff and volunteers and ensure that everyone follows the safety standards and policies of the South Wood County YMCA. If any other higher-ranking director is absent, the manager on duty will act as the Liaison for all departments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Knows and reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergencies immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures; completes related reports as required.
2. Maintains and distributes first aid supplies as needed. In the event of an accident or injury, follow established YMCA policy and guidelines. This includes filing incident reports and notifying the appropriate department head.
3. Intentional in relationship building.
4. Report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate Director.
5. Respond to challenges with possible solutions promptly.
6. Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the entire facility.
7. Remains calm and objective when under pressure or when challenged by others.
8. Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA.
9. Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.
10. Arrives to work in a timely fashion, demonstrating for others to adhere to their scheduled start time.
11. Adjust the weekday schedule once a month to cover weekend hours, either 1 weekend day per pay period or 1 full weekend per month, as needed.
12. The Manager on Duty must possess the competence and confidence to engage with members and staff as well as ensure a safe environment for all members, program participants, volunteers, and staff.
13. They must be responsible and at least 21 years of age and can cooperate and work with other YMCA staff to provide a quality environment.
14. They must demonstrate a good understanding of the operation of the physical building.
15. Properly trained in basic pool rescue (assisting lifeguards).
16. Have the skills, knowledge, and genuine willingness to assume a visible presence in the facility.
17. Able to determine when to contact senior management regarding matters of program/membership delivery and facility operations.
18. Any other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
· High School graduate or equivalent required
· Minimum age of 21
· CPR/AED and First Aid within 90 days of hire
· Complete Leader Certification within 90 days of hire
· Mandated Reporter Training
· Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness
· Complete training on facility operations upon hire
· Complete Daxko Operations training upon hire
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

· The Manager on Duty must remain on alert at all times, supporting the safety of staff and members.
· The Manager on Duty must be friendly and professional at ALL times.
This position is scheduled Monday through Friday 4pm - 8pm.
