Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide exceptional support and care to individuals in various settings, including home health, assisted living, nursing homes, and memory care facilities. Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using proper patient transfer methods and manual handling techniques like Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and observe for any changes in health status or behavior, documenting findings accurately in care plans.
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and resident rights.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring infection control standards are upheld.
- Provide emotional support through active client communication, companionship, and engagement in meaningful activities.
- Assist with transportation for appointments or community outings using appropriate personal transportation assistance methods.
Experience
- Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities, developmental or intellectual disabilities support, or senior care is highly desirable.
- Experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is preferred.
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism is a plus.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; additional certifications like Hoyer lift operation or medication administration are advantageous.
- Familiarity with patient monitoring techniques, patient transfer methods, and the use of medical equipment such as Hoyer lifts or blood pressure cuffs is beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to follow care plans accurately while respecting residents’ rights and maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines.
