What are the responsibilities and job description for the Varsity Volleyball Coach position at South Umpqua High School?
Position Overview:
South Umpqua High School is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable individual to lead our Volleyball programfor the 2026–2027 season. The ideal candidate will foster a positive, competitive environment that promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, and the overall development of student-athletes both on and off the court.
Qualifications:

Previous volleyball coaching experience is strongly preferred.

Must meet certification requirements as outlined by the Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA).

Demonstrated expertise in coaching techniques, injury prevention, and volleyball strategy at a competitive level.

A background as a volleyball player is desirable.

Must possess a valid First Aid/CPR certification at the time of hire.

Ability to build strong, respectful relationships with student-athletes, staff, and parents.

Commitment to supporting student-athlete academic success and personal growth.
Additional Responsibilities:

Develop and implement effective practice plans and game strategies.

Promote a culture of integrity, discipline, and accountability.

Communicate clearly with players, parents, and school staff.

Coordinate with the Athletic Director regarding program needs and OSAA compliance.

Supervise assistant coaches and mentor players at all levels of the program.
