- Practice Setting: Level I Trauma Center within South Texas Health System (STHS)
- Support / Care Team: Multidisciplinary trauma surgery team with APPs and surgeons
- EMR / Technology: Cerner electronic medical record system
- Manage pre-operative and post-operative trauma patients in coordination with trauma surgeons
- Perform tertiary evaluations of trauma admissions and provide episodic or problem-oriented care under physician direction
- Assist with trauma quality performance improvement initiatives
- Conduct complex patient care procedures usually performed by trauma surgeons but delegated to PAs
- Assess patient complaints and deliver appropriate treatments
- Perform minor surgical procedures as delegated by supervising physician
- Utilize advanced assessment skills to anticipate and communicate complex patient issues
- Order and interpret labs and diagnostic tests in collaboration with trauma surgeons
- Monitor treatment plans and update trauma surgeons with critical information
- Respond promptly to emergency trauma alerts
- Perform additional duties as assigned
