Duties

• Conduct regular patrols of the store premises, including sales floors, stockrooms, and entrances,
• Manage access control systems to verify authorized entry for employees, vendors, and visitors, ensuring only permitted individuals are allowed into restricted areas.
• Respond promptly to security incidents or emergencies by following established procedures, including performing first aid or CPR when necessary.
• Write detailed incident reports documenting any thefts, disturbances, or safety hazards encountered during shifts.
• Perform background checks on new employees or vendors as part of the store’s security protocols.
• Operate emergency response equipment such as AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators), Tasers (where legally permitted), and fire extinguishers to handle various situations effectively.
• Engage with customers and staff professionally to de-escalate conflicts using conflict management techniques while maintaining a positive shopping environment.

Experience

• Prior experience in security roles within retail, military service, law enforcement, or related fields is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of surveillance systems including CCTV operation and monitoring is essential.
• Certification in first aid, CPR, AED operation, and Taser use is preferred; training can be provided if necessary.
• Familiarity with manual handling procedures and heavy lifting requirements for stock movement or safety measures.
• Demonstrated ability to write clear incident reports and perform background checks accurately.
• Strong understanding of physical security principles, access control systems, and compliance with security regulations.
• Excellent customer service skills combined with conflict de-escalation techniques to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors and staff.
