What are the responsibilities and job description for the Van Driver position at South Shore YMCA?
The 7D Van Driver is responsible for pupil transportation needs of a high quality Afterschool program which will include promoting YMCA core values and encourage lifelong learning. This position is responsible for providing effective interaction and communication with a wide range of internal staff and outside entities and be able to demonstrate high quality member service to program participants and their families.
Reports to Director, Afterschool Programs
Core Expectations
Routine upkeep of YMCA vehicles; including but not limited to refueling, basic operational checks and completing required forms of documentation ,Pre-trip and Post-trip inspections, maintaining interior cleanliness and scheduled 7D spring/fall inspection/annual vehicle inspections.
Communicate clearly with SSYMCA Afterschool Director and Site Coordinators to facilitate timely pick-ups and drop-offs and to manage children using positive guidance techniques in the vehicle.

- Must have an excellent driving record, obtain or have a 7D or school bus license
- Must be at least 21 years of age, have a Driver’s License for at least 3years
- Knowledge of MA driving rules and regulations

- First Aid and CPR certifications must be valid prior to driving
- The ability to develop positive, effective working relationships with, staff, children & families, volunteers, school administrators are critical to the position
- The ability to implement methods to address and follow up with needs/concerns in a positive and professional way reflecting an attitude that values diversity
