South Putnam Community Schools is seeking a committed, leadership-oriented individual to serve as the Head Boys Basketball Coach. This position is responsible for the leadership and oversight of the boys' basketball program, ranging from elementary programming through the varsity level. Candidate Qualifications:
- Experience coaching at the high school level with a proven track record of developing competitive programs and student-athletes.
- Ability to manage schedules, budgets, and personnel across all grades K through 12.
- Strong verbal and interpersonal skills for engaging with student-athletes, parents, and school administration.
- Demonstrated ability to implement a cohesive philosophy throughout the entire system.
- Ability to serve as a positive role model, maintaining high standards of sportsmanship and student-athlete conduct.
- Must meet all IHSAA coaching requirements and possess a deep knowledge of IHSAA rules and regulations.
Responsibilities Include:
- Direct all aspects of the Varsity team, including practice planning, game-day strategy, and player evaluations.
- Monitor and support the academic progress and off-court conduct of student-athletes.
- Coordinate the recruitment of coaches and provide ongoing professional development.
- Establish a unified basketball "system," ensuring that elementary and middle school coaches are teaching the fundamentals and terminology necessary for success at the high school level.
- Oversee elementary programming to build interest and skill from an early age.
- Serve as the supervisor for all middle school and junior varsity coaching staff, ensuring consistent implementation of program values.
- Manage the program budget, equipment, and uniforms.
- Act as the primary face of the basketball program within the school community and with media.
