We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our primary care team, supporting both providers and patients in a small, community-focused practice. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our office. This position requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and a compassionate approach to patient interactions. In addition to assisting providers with exams, procedures, and patient care, you may also support front office tasks as needed in a collaborative team environment.
Status: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Greet and room patients, take vital signs, update medical history, and document in EMR accurately and in a timely manner.
- Assist providers with exams, procedures, immunizations, and in-office testing.
- Prepare and send lab specimens; call patients with results as directed.
- Manage medication refills, referrals, and diagnostic order forms under provider supervision.
- Review and address patient health maintenance alerts (e.g., overdue labs, screenings, immunizations, chronic condition follow-up).
- Support patient scheduling, follow-ups, and coordination of care.
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing patient inquiries, and resolving any issues or concerns promptly and professionally.
- Restock exam rooms, maintain supplies, and check for expired items.
- Perform basic office maintenance tasks such as cleaning rooms and equipment checks.
- Provide patient education on preventive care and encourage compliance with provider recommendations.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations when handling sensitive patient information.
- Assist in other administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, and organizing documents as required.
- Stay updated on medical office procedures, protocols, and any changes in healthcare regulations.
- Medical Receptionist duties PRN, cross-trained preferred.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification in healthcare administration is a plus.
- 2-3 years of experience as a medical assistant. Previous experience in a primary care office setting is preferred.
- Preferred immunizations: documented Tdap, or positive immunity to Varicella, MMR, and Hepatitis B.
- Current CPR certification preferred.
- Proficient in using electronic medical records (EMR) and other computer applications.
- Proven experience as a medical receptionist or in a similar customer service role.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and integrity.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain a friendly and compassionate attitude in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and insurance processes is preferred.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and work well under pressure.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise good judgment.
