What are the responsibilities and job description for the Line Cook position at South Main Pizza?
We're a busy local pizza restaurant serving delicious pizzas, subs, and more to our community. We are seeking a reliable, fast-paced Line Cook to join our kitchen team.
Key Responsibilities
- Cook pizzas while monitoring temperature, timing, and doneness for perfect results
- Grill and cook burgers, patties, steak, and other proteins to order, ensuring proper doneness and presentation
- Prepare and assemble hot and cold subs, sandwiches, wraps, and calzones
- Cook additional menu items such as fried appetizers (wings, mozzarella sticks, fries, onion rings), salads, garlic bread, and sides
- Set up, stock, and maintain stations (pizza, grill, fry, sandwich/subs) with necessary ingredients and supplies during service
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation; follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Monitor inventory levels for key items (dough, cheese, burger patties, sub rolls, toppings) and report low stock or assist with deliveries
- Work efficiently during peak rushes while upholding quality, speed, and presentation standards
- Assist with other kitchen tasks as needed and collaborate with team members for smooth operations
Requirements
- Previous experience in a fast-paced kitchen preferred
- Basic knowledge of grilling, frying, sandwich assembly, and pizza preparation
- Ability to multitask and handle multiple stations/orders in a high-volume setting
- Strong attention to detail, speed, and consistency in food quality and presentation
- Solid understanding of food safety practices, proper handling, and sanitation
- Physical ability to stand for long shifts, lift up to 50 lbs, and work with hot equipment/ovens
- Flexible schedule availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Team-oriented with good communication and a positive, can-do attitude
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
