Position: Assistant Swim Coach Location: South Kingstown High School
Report to: Athletic Director and Head Girls Swim Coach
South Kingstown High School: South Kingstown High School is a public high school dedicated to developing students to become problem solvers, critical thinkers, effective communicators, technology users, and contributing members to a global workforce and society. South Kingstown High School is a grade 9-12 comprehensive high school serving over 800 students.
Position Summary: The Assistant Girls Swim Coach is primarily responsible for coaching the Varsity Girls Swim Team as well as the JV Girls Swim program. The position also requires duties such as:
Assist the Head Coach with supervising athletes during practices and competition
Assist the Head Coach with instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
Organize and direct individual and small group practice activities as directed by the Head Coach
Assist the Head Coach with game strategy.
Maintains the equipment in orderly condition and assumes responsibility for its security
Model behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators
Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete's injury
Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities
Traveling to and from away contests
Participates in special activities to include parents' night, banquets, award nights, etc.
Attends staff development meetings, clinics and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Head Girls Swim Coach, Athletic Director or any other appropriate administrator.
Requirements:
Rhode Island Teaching Certificate preferred
1-3 years of experience coaching Girls Swim at the High School level preferred
Comprehensive knowledge of the game is paramount. Extensive knowledge of current coaching techniques and procedures
Demonstrated ability to instruct and supervise student athletes.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Must possess the ability to relate to students and to teach them on and off the court.
Must be willing to accept a high level of accountability.
Must possess the ability to assess players.
Candidates will be interviewed, and the candidate who ranks highest in the interview process and meets the requirements of the position will be recommended for the position
Completion of a successful interview.
Successfully complete the RIIL-NFHS sponsored Fundamentals of Coaching Course
Successfully complete a standard First Aid and CPR course.
Successfully complete the NFHS Concussion Course. (renewed annually)
Successfully complete the online course NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest. (renewed annually) Successfully complete a Background check.
Successfully complete any additional courses assigned by the RIIL.
New coaching hires must complete all courses within six (6) months of the date of hire.
The Assistant Girls Swim Coach is required to abide by the RIIL rules, abide by, and assist in implementing and enforcing all policies of the South Kingstown School District and the Athletic Administration.

Compensation: All coaches shall be paid as established in the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the National Education Association South Kingstown. The Assistant Girls Swim Coach stipend will be $2723.oo.
