Job Summary: The School Nurse is responsible for all issues relating to the health and welfare of the students during their attendance at the school, and preparation for off-campus student experiences. The role serves as a liaison to parents on health and wellness issues and provides education/training on health issues to students, employees, and families.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide professional nursing services, first aid, illness, and emergency care to students and staff in accordance with professional standards, school policy and procedures, and state and local mandates.
• Administer medication to students in accordance with physician orders.
• Support students with medical conditions and share appropriate action plans with families.
• Maintain ongoing communication with parents/guardians, teachers and other school personnel regarding the health and safety of needs of students.
• Assist with the development and delivery of the school’s health curriculum.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding all school and health-related issues in accordance with federal and state privacy regulations.
• Collects and manages all student health records using Magnus; and manages annual compliance for records of immunizations in accordance with section 10-204 a-4 of the State of Connecticut regulations.
• Keeping up with all health requirements and updating protocols and procedures.
• All other duties assigned by administration.
Job Education & Requirements:
• Current Connecticut license to practice either as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Must have at least a minimum of 2 years of related experience.
• Previous nursing experience 3-5 years preferred.
• CPR/AED Certification
• Experience with Data Management Systems
• Ability to provide excellent parent and student support to ensure all parties feel they have received superior care.
• Able to make decisions in a fast-paced environment while ensuring student health needs have been successfully met.
• Excellent organizational, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours when necessary.
• Must have experience with Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office proficiently.
• Valid driver’s license.

Compensation:
Compensation is competitive and includes meals when school is in session.
