Do you enjoy working outdoors and taking pride in keeping your community safe and well-maintained? The City of South Jordan is hiring a Street Maintenance Worker to assist in the construction, maintenance, and repair of city streets and infrastructure.
What You'll Do:
- Operate a variety of light and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment, including pickup trucks, dump trucks, loaders, and backhoes
- Assist with roadway maintenance, including asphalt and concrete repairs, drainage systems, and signage
- Observe and report road hazards, such as tilted stop signs, debris, and unauthorized fire hydrant use
- Ensure proper work zone safety procedures are followed at all times
- Maintain and clean tools, vehicles, and equipment to ensure safe operation
- Participate in on-call rotations for emergencies such as snowstorms and natural disasters (compensated when on call)
Who You Are:
- At least 18 years old with a High School Diploma or GED
- Hardworking and safety-conscious, with the ability to operate power tools and heavy equipment
- Physically capable of lifting 40-60 lbs., standing, bending, and working in varying weather conditions
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Must live within 30 miles of South Jordan City and be able to reach the Public Works building within 45 minutes
- Utah Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Tanker Endorsement (or the ability to obtain one within 6 months)
