About the Role

We are seeking an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) to join our Buprenorphine Program. The APN will provide compassionate, evidence-based medical care for individuals with opioid use disorder in a harm reduction setting. This includes evaluating clients, prescribing buprenorphine, and working collaboratively with harm reduction and case management staff to deliver comprehensive, person-centered care.

This role is offered in either full-time OR part-time

What You'll Do

  • Evaluate clients for program eligibility and Opioid Use Disorder diagnosis.
  • Conduct medical and substance use assessments and perform targeted physical exams.
  • Prescribe and manage buprenorphine therapy, including induction and stabilization dosing.
  • Provide overdose prevention education and collaborate with harm reduction staff to supply naloxone.
  • Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Provide basic wound care and first aid.
  • Refer clients to primary care, specialty care, and behavioral health services.
  • Participate in the organization's buprenorphine mentorship program and professional development opportunities.
  • Document care and complete required data collection for reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with case managers and harm reduction staff to ensure coordinated, whole-person care.

What We're Looking For

  • Master's degree or higher in Nursing from an NLN accredited program.
  • Licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant in the state of New Jersey.
  • Certification as an Adult, Psychiatric Mental Health, or Family Nurse Practitioner.
  • Authorization to prescribe buprenorphine
  • 2 years' experience in addiction medicine, harm reduction, or community health preferred.
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Commitment to evidence-based, nonjudgmental, and trauma-informed care.
  • Familiarity with HIV, Hepatitis C, and STI prevention a plus.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records and Microsoft Office Suite preferred.

  • Occasional lifting, carrying, or moving medical supplies or equipment, or exerting force of up to 15 pounds
  • Occasional bending, reaching, or positioning patients during physical assessments and while administering care
  • Frequent sitting, standing, and walking within the clinic or office environment
  • Walking/moving about work setting to accomplish tasks

  • Subject to climate-controlled office or clinical environments and requires flexibility to adapt to different environments as needed; employee is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
  • Potential exposure to individuals experiencing medical or behavioral health crises, and to biohazard materials consistent with healthcare settings
  • Must follow all agency infection control and safety procedures
  • Occasional travel may be required; regular travel required during the first 3-6 months for training.
  • Employees are expected to participate in and assist with at least two South Jersey AIDS Alliance fundraising events each year, including the NJ AIDS Walk.

Pay: $ $65.00 per hour
