As Executive Director, you’ll serve as the Chief Health Strategist for your community—guiding policy, programs, and partnerships that protect health, advance equity, and strengthen systems of care. In this executive leadership role, you’ll oversee a diverse team and complex budget while ensuring the delivery of core public health services. Your leadership will shape long-term health outcomes, drive innovation, and uphold the mission of public service at every level.
In the role of Executive Director, you will:
- Oversee departmental operations, ensuring public health alignment and regulatory compliance
- Drive program efficiency and quality improvement
- Guide staff performance and workforce development
- Build community partnerships and advocate for health policy
- Manage financial operations and resources
- Serve as spokesperson in media relations, legislation, and public outreach
- Monitor health data and guide strategic planning
- Lead emergency response as incident commander
A doctorate or master’s degree in a public health-related field is preferred. The department is willing to consider a strong applicant with a commitment to working towards one of these degrees. Extensive supervisory experience is essential; a minimum of five years of experience in a senior leadership role within a health-related field or public service organization is preferred. Ideal candidates will have expertise in budgeting and policy development, along with experience managing multi-disciplinary teams. They will demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion and possess strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence across departments and stakeholders. Completion of NIMS ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, and 700 certifications is required within six months of appointment.
