South Dakota State University (SDSU) West River Research & Extension is hiring a temporary Project Coordinator to provide critical support and oversight to a large-scale agricultural research and outreach project that is grant-funded for two years. We are looking for an innovative and self-motivated individual to fill this important role. This position is located in Rapid City. This position is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position.


SDState is the state’s largest, most comprehensive university with over $94 million annual research expenditures, more than 200 academic programs and an enrollment of approximately 12,000 students. The Project Coordinator will be housed at SDSU West River Research and Extension location in Rapid City, SD. There are currently nine faculty from the departments Animal Science, Natural Resource Management, and Agronomy, Horticulture and Plant Sciences housed at this location who work in many multidisciplinary, collaborative teams to address the agriculture and natural resource needs of western SD and the state.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serve as the general coordinator for large-scale, multi-partner grant activities and be responsible for team reporting, meetings, and communications. The successful candidate will work directly with grant administrators, researchers, and project partners for daily project management. This position will engage directly with producers and assist technology deployment and support at producer operations and research sites. This position will also substantially contribute to the research aim of this grant, including soil and forage sampling and laboratory analyses, and assist with associated outreach activities and events.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or related field, including (but not limited to) Animal Science, Natural Resource Management, Agronomy, Ag business.
  • 1 to 3 years of related experience.
  • Driver’s license.
  • Knowledge/familiarity with production agriculture.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge/experience with soil science.
  • Master’s degree.
  • Research experience.
