South Dakota State University College of Pharmacy is seeking applications for a 9-month, full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure track faculty (Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) position in the Department of Pharmacy Practice. This teaching-intensive academic appointment involves course coordination in Sioux Falls, SD and intermittent teaching in Brookings, SD.

The College of Pharmacy offers a six-year course of study leading to a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree and has offered the successful entry level Pharm.D. program since 1994. The Department of Pharmacy Practice provides classroom and clerkship instruction for the last two years of the Pharm.D. degree program and contributes classroom instruction and early experiential training for the pharmaceutical sciences phase of the degree. Faculty are embedded at various practice sites which provides students the opportunity for diverse learning experiences. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary responsibilities include didactic instruction, lab-based instruction, mentoring and advising students, actively engaging in practice-informed scholarship including quality improvement, clinical research, and/or scholarship of teaching and learning, and contributing to various committees within both the academic and professional organization settings. The typical workload breakdown for this position is 85% teaching, 10% research, and 5% general service, although all of these areas are negotiable based on candidate expertise and preference.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- An earned Pharm.D. with completion of a residency or equivalent experience by date of application.
- Eligibility for South Dakota licensure
- Evidence of successful communication ability (written and oral)
- Ability to engage with and contribute to teams
- Satisfactory interpersonal skills
- Experience in course coordination, collaborative teaching, course or curricular assessment, student evaluation, and both classroom and lab-based teaching
- Familiarity with ACPE accreditation standards
- Successful demonstration of collaborative scholarship that has resulted in publication of a peer-reviewed manuscript
- Valid driver’s license, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire, and willingness to travel.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Advanced training or experience in teaching student pharmacists
- Experience coordinating pharmacy residents
- Experience on college and institutional committees
- Experience in professional service
- Experience with evidence-based andS novel teaching techniques
- Passion for and experience in individual and collaborative research including quality improvement, SOTL, and clinical projects
