The USD Sanford School of Medicine, Departments of Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine seek an experienced and self-motivated department manager for its academic program office. The position serves as primary point of contact for the departments. The overall purpose of this position is to ensure administrative excellence of the Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine departments, including alignment with school, institution, and BOR policies and procedures. This position will manage the day-to-day administrative operations of the departments. Duties include, but are not limited to, managing the day-to-day financial responsibilities of the departments; supporting the department chairs; supervising and providing guidance to staff; facilitating the onboarding of new faculty members, and coordinating department events.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
- Experience with office equipment and software including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Zoom along with the ability to quickly learn new technology platforms
- Ability to work independently with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
- Experience working in healthcare or higher education
- Experience with supervising staff
- Experience in event planning
This position offers state health insurance and benefits, which includes a retirement plan with 6% matching, 10 hours of annual leave each month, 9.34 hours of sick leave each month, and 11 paid holidays.
