Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- Experience working with children, preferably those with disabilities in an early childhood setting.
- Valid Oregon driver's license, automobile, and hold appropriate insurance
- Must be able to pass Criminal History Record verification
Major Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
- Work collaboratively with the specialist, therapists (e.g., speech, occupational, physical), program administrator, and other staff. Communicate effectively with team members and parents, while maintaining strict confidentiality regarding student and family information.
- Carries out instructional and behavioral programs as directed by teacher.
- Assists in instruction of hygiene and toileting skills.
- Provides personal care of students with severe physical disabilities.
- Assists in lifting students who are physically disabled.
- Stimulates language through receptive and expressive language programs, total communication, and augmented communication.
- Carries out teacher's plans for instruction during individual and small group activities.
