Minimum And Additional Requirements
State of South Carolina minimum requirements:
A high school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.
SCDC Minimum Requirements
A bachelor's degree in a human services or criminal justice field.

Under general supervision of a Qualified Mental Health Professional,
- Performs counseling and supportive services for mentally ill inmates consisting of social skills groups, reviewing treatment plans, recreational activities, developing and implementing re-entry assessment goals.
- Establish a supportive, motivational, and therapeutic relationship within the parameters of a correctional environment.
- Plans, organize and lead structured programs including individual and group therapeutic services.
- Provides focus intervention in collaboration with SCDC clinical and custody staff to enhance skills and effective management of inmates.
- Assists with custody related duties such as transportation, supervision of recreation and suicide watch.
- Attend divisional meetings and staff training as required.
- Schedule subject to fluctuate to include after hours and on-site weekend/holiday coverage. **
