Job Title: Information Technology Support Specialist

Location: Information Technology

Job Group: Support Staff, Non Union

Pay Level: Exempt, Grade 22

Reports to: Information Technology Support Coordinator

Summary: Works under the general oversight of the Information Technology Support Coordinator.  Facilitates access to and utilization of information and technology resources for staff and students through the school help desk.  Provides user support for hardware and software applications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

1. Provides assistance to technology users through phone calls, walk-ins, or traveling to District locations by: 

1. Diagnosing and troubleshooting hardware, network, and software problems.
2. Installing and upgrading hardware, operating systems, and software programs.
3. Communicating with end users during the repair process.
4. Maintaining user accounts.

1. Assists the Information Technology Support Coordinator and Department by:

1. Maintaining an inventory of computer equipment and software, as needed.
2. Providing on-site multi-media production assistance to students, staff, approved outside users, and School Board members in support of district initiatives and/or approved work.
3. Photographs employees and issues new ID cards.
4. Participates and works with IT Department Student Intern program and initiatives.
5. Performing other duties as assigned.

1. Remains current on career related subject matter by:

1. Attending professional meetings and conferences related to information technology subject matter, as requested.
2. Remaining current with software in use including, but not limited to: the Student Information System, SpedDoc, Microsoft products, library software and other administrative/operational software systems.
3. Assisting with school-based technology plans and development.

Education and/or Experience:  Associates’ Degree or equivalent in technology is preferred.  Demonstrated experience and/or training in software, hardware, multimedia presentation tools, and other technology related information, as well as customer service is essential.  Experience in classroom technology, multimedia presentations, or related fields are helpful.

Preferred Skills:  Demonstrates knowledge, competence, and skills in all aspects of current and emerging information technology, including telecommunications access, and educational software and hardware.  Demonstrates technical competencies in building-based hardware and software including but not limited to: multimedia equipment (LCD projectors, SmartBoards, scanners, digital camcorders, and cameras) all Microsoft Office Suite applications, SQL, and Crystal Reports.  Demonstrates ability in organizational, human relations, and training skills.
