Food Services Supervisor- Day & Evening

Job Summary:

The Food Services Evenings Supervisor is responsible for overseeing food service shift personnel and daily operations, including food service activities, monitoring safety and sanitation practices, coordinating food production and service, ordering supplies, and preparing required reports. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.

Salary: Annual salary of $30,000. Plus, comprehensive benefits package.

Work Schedule

This position will require evening, weekend, and/or day rotation shifts consisting of eight (8) hours based on operational needs. Employees will work a rotating schedule to ensure coverage on weekends and holidays.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Supervises food production and service staff by participating in hiring recommendations, assigning work, reviewing performance, and training employees.

· Researches applicable laws and procedural updates; attends meetings to stay informed and provides in-service training on policy changes, food preparation methods, and equipment operation.

· Prepares and cooks a variety of foods on a regular basis and for special events or functions.

· Collaborates with staff to plan menus and develop recipes, considering seasonal availability and projected customer volume.

· Monitors the quality and quantity of raw and prepared food products to ensure standards are met.

· Demonstrates cooking techniques and proper use of equipment to staff.

· Estimates quantities and costs of food, ingredients, and supplies.

· Inspects food deliveries, supplies, equipment, storage areas, and workspaces to ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, and temperature-control standards.

· Assists with inventory management, ordering, receiving, and stock rotation.

· Complies with all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety regulations.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities:

· Knowledge of food preparation and service requirements in an educational or institutional setting.

· Knowledge of sanitation and safety standards for food service operations.

· Ability to prepare, cook, and serve food efficiently.

· Ability to properly clean and maintain utensils and equipment.

· Ability to safely operate knives, choppers, peelers, and other food preparation equipment.

· Ability to supervise and coordinate the work of food service personnel.

· Ability to inspect food shipments and manage inventory.

· Ability to estimate food quantities and determine appropriate serving methods.

· Ability to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and food safety standards.

Required Education and Experience:

· The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma

· Two (2) years of experience in institutional or commercial food service operations and/or specialized training in food service

· One (1) year in a supervisory or leadership capacity.

Preferred Education and Experience:

· Experience in food service operations within a college, university, K-12, healthcare, correctional, or other institutional setting.

· Experience with inventory management, food ordering, and menu planning.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including up to three (3) consecutive hours.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to push or pull carts weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions associated with food preparation, serving, and cleaning activities.
