Source One is a consulting services company and we’re currently looking for the following individual to work for our client, an autonomous vehicle company in either Palo Alto, CA or Ann Arbor, MI.
Title: Software Release Engineer
Pay: $58–$62/hour (W-2) plus benefits
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday
Hybrid: 3 days onsite
Job Summary: Seeking a Software Release Engineer to support the validation and release of autonomous vehicle software. In this role, you will execute hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and simulation testing, analyze test results, identify software regressions, and collaborate with engineering and vehicle operations teams to ensure safe and reliable software deployments before public road testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute HIL and simulation testing to validate software releases before in-vehicle deployment.
- Develop, maintain, and evaluate HIL driving scenarios, including night-run validation tests.
- Provide technical support for vehicle-based validation testing to enable software deployment to new Operational Design Domains (ODDs) and public roads.
- Maintain and improve the HIL testing pipeline.
- Review test results, verify accuracy, and coordinate release activities with vehicle operations teams.
- Identify software regressions, investigate failures, and ensure issues are resolved before release.
- Communicate testing progress, risks, failures, and delays to cross-functional stakeholders.
- Analyze logs, video, and sensor data to troubleshoot issues during autonomous vehicle testing.
- Travel domestically as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- 3 years of experience in software validation, HIL testing, or simulation testing.
- Experience analyzing logs, sensor data, and autonomous vehicle test results.
- Experience using Git version control.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in technically complex and fast-paced environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with simulation tools such as Foxglove Studio, SUMO, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of ASPICE development processes.
- Python programming experience.
