Position Summary
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of manufacturing equipment throughout our facility. This role requires a hands-on problem-solver with strong electrical, mechanical, and fabrication skills who can keep our production line moving with minimal downtime.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and controller-related issues on production equipment
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance to minimize unplanned downtime
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and controller/PLC systems to troubleshoot faults
- Perform basic machining tasks (drilling, turning, grinding, etc.) to fabricate or repair parts as needed
- Fabricate replacement components and custom parts using welding, cutting, and metalworking techniques
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, parts inventory, and repair records
- Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to reduce production impact
- Collaborate with production and safety teams to identify and resolve recurring equipment issues
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety standards and procedures
Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in industrial maintenance, mechanical repair, or a related field
- Solid understanding of electrical systems and industrial controllers (PLCs, sensors, relays, etc.)
- Basic machining knowledge (lathe, mill, drill press, or similar equipment)
- Hands-on fabrication experience (welding, cutting, metal forming)
- Ability to read technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and respond to urgent maintenance needs
- Manufacturing environment experience preferred; mattress or textile industry experience a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
- Comfortable working around industrial machinery, at heights, and in varied conditions
- Ability to stand, bend, and move throughout the facility for extended periods
