What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant position at Sound Decisions?
We are a rapidly growing investment management firm with a predominantly Massachusetts-based clientele that was recently acquired via a merger with a CPA practice and are looking for a Senior Accountant to take a lead role in tax preparation and consultation for our expanding client base. This is the ideal role for someone who is looking to relocate permanently to Florida and perform the same work you do up North or go back and forth during tax season. Additionally, the role is a partnership track opportunity for the right candidate who is not only an excellent tax preparer, but also has the ability to work on a team in a dynamic way to integrate our new clients onto our platform and offer them a host of outsourced family office options that will include tax preparation and advice, financial planning, trusts, estates and investment management.
Job Description:
- This role can be handled remotely but periodic office visits are necessary, especially during tax season. Living within 100 miles of either FL or MA office is required (Venice, FL and suburbs of Boston, MA).
- Prepare tax returns for individuals and some small businesses/partnerships in multiple states.
- Work directly with clients on financial data collection and communication.
- Stay updated on all tax laws and communicate strategies to clients when applicable
- Assist with tax planning and provide recommendations to optimize clients' tax exposure
- Communicate directly with clients and coordinate with advisors on tax and wealth management strategy
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting, CPA or Enrolled Agent certification required with a focus on tax return preparation
- A strong working knowledge of individual and corporate tax law in multiple jurisdictions
- Be proficient in one or more accounting software packages such as ProSystem FX, Drake, Quickbooks etc.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to handle projects, especially during tax season.
The position is bonus eligible, has a generous incentive package and a flexible hybrid work model.
