Empath Health is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. In this role, you will serve as a key contributor to the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting across a complex, multi-entity healthcare organization.
This position offers the opportunity to work on a broad range of accounting functions—including financial reporting, regulatory compliance, consolidations, and process improvement, while partnering with leadership and operational teams to enhance financial stewardship and decision-making. The ideal candidate is both analytical and collaborative, with the ability to operate at a high level while also rolling up their sleeves to support day-to-day accounting operations.
Location: Hybird - must reside near our Sarasota or Brandon Empath Health office.

What You'll Do
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure accuracy and timeliness
- Lead key accounting processes including consolidations, overhead allocations, accrual analysis, and general ledger activity
- Support regulatory compliance efforts, including cost reports, grant reporting, audits, and tax-related filings
- Partner with internal stakeholders to improve financial reporting accuracy, strengthen internal controls, and support operational decision-making
- Perform detailed financial analysis, research complex accounting issues, and apply appropriate accounting treatment across diverse scenarios
- Provide guidance, oversight, and quality assurance for general ledger staff and accounting processes

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA strongly preferred
- 5 years of progressive general ledger accounting experience (public accounting or healthcare experience preferred)
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and account reconciliation processes
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office, with experience in Workday accounting systems (required)
- Proven ability to analyze complex financial data, solve problems, and manage multiple priorities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams
