About the Role
The Associate will join a middle-market private equity firm in their Boston, MA office. Our client focuses on business services, healthcare services, and manufacturing, investing $40-$60M in businesses with EBITDA of at least $5M. Fund IV closed in November 2023 and was oversubscribed at $456M. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established, highly regarded firm which prides itself on its collaborative, dynamic culture and close partnerships with founder-owned businesses. Additional firm highlights include:
- Team size (Deal and Operations): ~10
- $1.2B AUM
- Preferred Investment Amount: $40-60M
- Preferred Company Valuation: $30-200M
- Preferred EBITDA: $5M
Key Responsibilities
The Associate will support senior investment professionals in investment sourcing, due diligence, and portfolio management functions of the firm. Specific responsibilities include:
- Financial analysis - Create financial models to analyze cash flows, investment returns, and enterprise values for new investment opportunities and existing portfolio companies
- Investment approval materials - Prepare memos and other approval materials for the Investment Committee
- Industry research - Conduct research on market size, growth prospects, demand drivers, key competitors, etc.
- Third party diligence - Facilitate diligence activities with third-party partners (e.g., senior lenders, accountants, attorneys, IT consultants, strategy consultants)
- Portfolio management - Assist with ongoing monitoring and ad hoc strategic projects for portfolio companies
Professional Experience & Qualifications
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, leveraged finance or management consulting, with lower middle-market experience a plus.
Personal Characteristics
Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment, work independently, prioritize work effectively, and meet stringent deadlines while maintaining high quality of work standards.

Education
