Position Summary:
Soufflé is seeking an Executive Director, Bioinformatics to define and lead our multi-year bioinformatics and data science strategy across research, translational science, and clinical development. This backfill is an opportunity to bring additional breadth and AI/ML leadership as we scale, championing responsible AI/ML integration and governance while building a team that turns diverse data into decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with R&D leadership to define a multi-year bioinformatics and data science strategy across research, translational science, and clinical development
- Lead a team that translates diverse data into insights and decisions
- Champion responsible AI/ML integration and governance frameworks, and mechanisms to prioritize high-impact projects
- Build a team and culture that engages and partners with stakeholders to bring new workflows, initiatives, and case studies to realization
- Act as a collaborative, highly integrative team player across the organization
What Success Looks Like
- In 3 months: A growth gameplan aligned for the next 2-3 years, with a plan in place for key AI/ML rollout and governance initiatives; set priorities and communicate for the next 3-6 months.
- In 6 months: Successful system roll-outs, with a strong queue of high-value use cases; able to see clear early success with first roll out cases
- In 12 months: Strategy set for the next stage of growth
Qualifications — Required
- 12 years of relevant bioinformatics/data science experience, including 4 years in a functional leadership role
- Strong change management and stakeholder engagement skills, with a customer-oriented working style
- Experience defining and leading data science/bioinformatics strategy across research and clinical development functions
Qualifications — Preferred
- Experience with multi-omic data analysis and integration, machine learning/AI methodologies, and data pipeline and dashboard development
Education
- Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or a related field
This is an onsite position in Watertown, MA (US) with flexibility as needed for collaboration and external engagements.
