POSITION TITLE: GENERAL MAINTENANCE MECHANIC
REPORTS TO: OPERATIONS DIRECTOR
WORK YEAR: 12 Month (July 1 through June 30)
JOB SUMMARY/ACCOUNTABILITY: The General Maintenance Technician performs a broad range of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, renovation, and installation tasks required to support the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of district buildings, grounds, facilities, and equipment. Responsibilities span multiple building trades including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, roofing repair, concrete, flooring systems, and mechanical building components. Work is performed in accordance with applicable building codes, OSHA regulations, manufacturer specifications, and district procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED; five years prior experience in general maintenance or related field; must hold current Pennsylvania motor vehicle operator’s license; demonstrable ability to read, interpret, and follow written work orders, technical manuals, drawings, and layout plans; demonstrable ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building system issues; must possess the physical and emotional stamina to perform related duties.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receive and complete assigned work orders; determine required tools, materials, equipment, and labor.
- Perform carpentry work including repair and maintenance of walls, ceilings, floors, roofs, doors, windows, cabinets, furniture, sheds, fencing, and related structures.
- Inspect roofs and perform roofing repairs including leak detection, patching, sealing, flashing repair, and gutter maintenance.
- Remove, prepare, layout, and install flooring systems including vinyl composition tile (VCT), luxury vinyl tile/plank (LVT/LVP), sheet goods, carpet tile, base molding, and transitions.
- Install and repair electrical and plumbing systems within scope of training.
- Mix, pour, finish, and repair concrete, stucco, and plaster surfaces.
- Operate tools and equipment safely; comply with OSHA and district safety requirements.
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergency maintenance situations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Director.

Medium work: The incumbent should be able to exert up to 50 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs of force constantly to move objects.

Very heavy work: The incumbent should be able to exert in excess of 100 lbs of force occasionally, and in excess of 50 lbs of force frequently, and in excess of 20 lbs of force constantly to move objects
