A Senior Systems Engineer provides technical ownership and hands-on engineering support for critical pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment within a regulated production environment. The role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operation of manufacturing systems used in the production of life-changing therapies.
This position operates on-site within a GMP manufacturing facility and works closely with cross-functional teams to maintain equipment performance, resolve technical issues, and support continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.
The role combines troubleshooting, equipment lifecycle management, and capital project support to ensure manufacturing systems operate at optimal performance, safety, and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical ownership of critical manufacturing equipment, including process systems such as spray dryers
- Deliver hands-on engineering support across manufacturing, quality, and reliability functions
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, automation, and process-related equipment issues
- Serve as subject matter expert for equipment performance, reliability, and lifecycle management
- Support capital projects from design and installation through commissioning and qualification
- Drive improvements in equipment uptime, reliability, and maintainability
- Ensure compliance with GMP standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements
- Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and cross-functional engineering teams
- Participate in technical problem-solving and structured root cause analysis
- Support documentation, engineering change control, and system improvements
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; engineering degree preferred
- Experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology manufacturing environments
- Hands-on experience with manufacturing equipment and/or capital engineering projects
- Familiarity with engineering documentation and technical system support
- Strong troubleshooting and structured problem-solving skills
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and external vendors
- Knowledge of automation, controls, or industrial equipment systems preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a regulated, team-based environment
