Specialty Business Manager β Dermatology
Location: California, USA (Territory-Based / Remote Field Role)
A global pharmaceutical organization is seeking a Specialty Business Manager to drive business growth across a dermatology portfolio. This field-based role combines strategic account management, clinical education, and consultative sales, partnering with healthcare professionals to improve patient access and support the appropriate use of specialty therapies.
The successful candidate will build strong relationships with dermatologists, clinics, hospitals, and key healthcare stakeholders while delivering territory sales objectives and executing local commercial strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Territory & Account Management
- Manage a portfolio of dermatology practices, hospitals, clinics, and healthcare providers within the assigned territory.
- Develop and execute strategic territory plans to achieve sales and business objectives.
- Build long-term relationships with physicians, clinical staff, pharmacists, and key decision-makers.
- Identify opportunities to expand account engagement and improve commercial performance.
Clinical Education & Product Promotion
- Deliver accurate clinical education and product information to healthcare professionals.
- Present clinical value propositions and therapeutic information using approved scientific resources.
- Support healthcare providers with product onboarding, patient access education, and implementation.
- Coordinate educational meetings, peer-to-peer programmes, and professional learning initiatives.
Sales & Business Development
- Achieve territory sales targets and key performance metrics.
- Identify growth opportunities through strategic account planning and customer segmentation.
- Adapt sales strategies to changing market dynamics and healthcare environments.
- Maintain strong knowledge of market trends, disease states, competitor activity, and treatment pathways.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Medical Affairs, Market Access, Marketing, and other internal teams to optimise customer engagement.
- Utilise company resources effectively to maximise territory performance.
- Manage territory budgets and allocated resources responsibly.
- Ensure all activities comply with regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or healthcare sales.
- Experience working with Dermatologists or within the dermatology therapeutic area is highly preferred.
- Strong account management and consultative selling skills.
- Demonstrated strategic planning and territory management experience.
- Understanding of healthcare reimbursement, managed care, and market access environments.
- Excellent presentation, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across cross-functional teams.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Willingness to travel throughout the assigned territory, including occasional overnight travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years of healthcare sales experience.
- Experience promoting specialty pharmaceutical or biologic therapies.
- Knowledge of reimbursement processes and patient access programmes.
- Experience managing complex healthcare accounts and stakeholder networks.
