This is a unique opportunity to combine hands-on veterinary medicine with leadership, coaching and operational influence, helping to develop high-performing clinical teams while driving outstanding patient outcomes.
The Opportunity
As Area Chief of Staff, you'll lead and support veterinary teams across a group of hospitals, ensuring the highest standards of clinical excellence, patient safety and team engagement.
Working closely with Practice Managers and senior leadership, you'll play a key role in developing veterinarians, improving hospital performance and fostering a collaborative culture focused on preventative care and exceptional client service.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership
- Provide clinical leadership across multiple veterinary hospitals
- Deliver high-quality veterinary care while maintaining excellent clinical standards
- Conduct medical record reviews, quality audits and patient safety assessments
- Promote best practice, preventative care and continuous clinical improvement
- Ensure compliance with veterinary regulations, pharmacy standards and clinical protocols
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor and develop veterinary teams across your hospital group
- Coach newly qualified and developing veterinarians
- Drive doctor engagement, retention and career development
- Support recruitment activities and act as a brand ambassador within the veterinary community
- Develop future veterinary leaders through coaching and succession planning
Operational Excellence
- Partner with Practice Managers to improve hospital performance
- Monitor operational KPIs and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Manage clinical resources, equipment and controlled substances
- Support complaint resolution and ensure exceptional client experiences
- Drive quality, efficiency and operational consistency across all hospitals
About You
We're looking for an experienced veterinary leader who combines excellent clinical expertise with strong people management and coaching skills.
You'll ideally have:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent veterinary qualification
- Veterinary licence in good standing or eligibility for licensure
- Minimum three years' experience in small animal medicine and surgery
- Proven leadership and team development experience
- Strong surgical and diagnostic skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Strong commercial awareness and financial acumen
- Ability to lead multiple priorities across several locations
- Passion for mentoring and developing veterinary professionals
