Sorenson Engineering is seeking a candidate with experience in manufacturing engineering, with CAD CAM development, CNC Programming, and training experience.
Summary
Inspect raw materials using quality plans and various metrologies to ensure all products manufactured comply with the requirements defined on the quality control plan. Receives, labels, stocks, pulls, tags, delivers, and loads raw material (metal bars or coils) for production operations. Verifies material, quantities, and records inventory. Ability to operate powered industrial machinery (i.e., forklifts) stay aware of possible hazards, and follow all company safety procedures.
Level I-Entry-level position learning to follow procedures to prepare raw materials for delivery to production and inventory control areas. Proficient in use of Handheld and Laser Micrometers and other measuring and/or inspection equipment.
Level II-Experienced level position for examining delivered goods and compares with records, such as delivery, bill of lading, receipts, purchase orders, or packing slips, to verify accuracy of incoming shipment. Records shipment data, such as quantity, weight, damages, or discrepancies, for reporting purposes. Assist with training of new employees. Advanced level use of Handheld and Laser Micrometers, other measuring and/or inspection equipment.
Essential Job Functions
Interprets both written and verbal instructions. Collaborates in a team environment to address work issues. Possesses basic shop math skills. Communicates effectively in English. Experience with powered industrial trucks is preferred. A valid California driver’s license is required for this position.
Education And Experience
High School Diploma or GED preferred. Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred but not necessary.
Physical Demands
Must be able to occasionally exert push force up to 50 pounds, must have good eyesight, hearing, and hand dexterity, and be able to identify and distinguish colors.
Work Environment
Within safety guidelines, there will be exposed to noise, moving mechanical parts, oils/solvents, fumes, and odors that may affect the eyes, ears, nose, throat and/or skin.

Essential Job Functions
- Operates measuring instruments and equipment for raw material inspection (e.g., QC Gage, QC Calc, ring gages, hand-micrometer, optical-micrometer and laser-micrometer ).
- Performs verification of measuring instruments.
- Verifies conformance of raw materials according to Quality Plans.
- Applies knowledge of the quality management system to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Follows receiving inspection procedures and work instructions in daily tasks.
- Conducts inventory of raw materials, including tracking lot numbers (heat numbers) and material types.
- Tags and handles materials in accordance with company procedures.
- Verifies incoming material shipments against purchase orders, bills of lading, packing slips, labels, tags, travelers, and inventory records.
- Operates a forklift to transport and deliver material throughout the facility.
- Manages material movement and maintains accurate inventory records in accordance with documentation procedures.
- Reads and follows directions in English accurately.
- Complies with all safety policies, including use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to hazardous material and emergency protocols.
- Performs end-of-shift duties and maintains cleanliness through housekeeping procedures.
- Maintains regular and punctual attendance as a critical requirement of the position.
