Sorenson Engineering is seeking an experienced precision tool grinder. Experienced in cutting and sharpening tools and demonstrates troubleshooting skills and techniques.
Summary:
Responsible for creating and deploying tools to enhance and monitor the exploitation of product synergy in the areas of planning, engineering, production and quality throughout Sorenson Engineering.
Level I -Assists teams in creating optimization and synergy recognition tools through collaboration with various engineering teams throughout the company. Proactively seeks to understand manufacturing and engineering processes. Assists in data entry for optimization and synergy recognition tools. Documents software structures and process methods.
Level II-In addition to Level I responsibilities, leads team members in creating and deploying various software tools and process improvements in support of the team objectives. Broadly understands engineering & manufacturing processes throughout the company.
Level III-In addition to Level I and Level II responsibilities, has a strong competence in the development tools utilized by the team and is capable of leading specific projects assigned. Responsible for making key project decisions and solving complex engineering problems with a high level of knowledge, may also include supervisory tasks to support the Technical Director of the department as assigned by management.
Essential Job Functions
Develops tools to digitize product and manufacturing data, leveraging product synergy.
Collaborates with engineering and departmental leadership to identify process standards that can be codified for automation of routine decision making.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Deploys tools to collect and analyze data for the purpose of removing waste from processes and increasing the quality of process outputs.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Provides daily engineering report.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of administrative procedures. Able to manage paper files and electronic records. Competence in Autodesk Inventor, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Python and SQL. Basic to advance understanding of the usage and applications of Epicor Kinetic. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective communicator and team collaborator. Able to communicate effectively in English.
Education and Experience
A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or appropriate STEM discipline required. 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Physical Demands
Must be able to periodically walk and or travel to other areas of the plant, occasionally lift up to 50 pounds with help, must have good eye sight and hand dexterity, and able to identify and distinguish colors.
Work Environment
Within safety guidelines, there will be exposure to noise, moving mechanical parts, oils/solvents, fumes, and odors that may affect the eyes, ears, nose, throat and/or skin.
