Arborist Crew Leader

Sonshine Tree Care is hiring an Arborist Crew Leader for preservation-focused tree care work.

Developing Crew Leader ($30-$43/hr): leading standard jobs — routine pruning, straightforward removals, day-to-day site management — while building toward full preservation-scope authority.

Full Crew Leader ($44-$55/hr): cleared to run the complete range of our work, including ANSI A300 preservation plans and county/municipal contract sites.

About the work Sonshine Tree Care isn't a strip-and-drop outfit. We do preservation-focused work — pruning, cabling, risk assessment, and treatment plans that follow ANSI A300 and ISA Best Management Practices, including work under county contract. We're looking for a Crew Leader who can run a job the right way: safely, on schedule, and to a standard that holds up on municipal sites.

What you'll do

• Run a two person crew, manage the day's job sequence
• Ensure work meets ANSI A300 and ISA BMP standards on every job
• Make the on-site safety calls — equipment, rigging, weather, crew fatigue
• Communicate with clients and the office
• Mentor climbers and apprentices coming up

What we're looking for

• Strong climbing background with a track record of leading or co-leading jobs
• ISA Certified Arborist preferred; if not certified yet, a clear path and intent to get there
• Comfortable making real-time safety and judgment calls
• Experience with cabling, bracing, or structural pruning plans
• Valid driver's license; willingness to obtain CDL
• Comfortable with manual transmission — you'll need to be confident driving our trucks solo before running a site independently.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
