Part-Time Music Teacher

Position Summary
Sonshine Christian Elementary and Middle School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Part-Time Music Teacher who is passionate about music education. The Music Teacher will provide engaging music instruction to elementary and middle school students, foster an appreciation for music, and support the school's mission of developing students spiritually, academically, emotionally, and socially in a Christ-centered environment.
The successful candidate will be a committed Christian who models biblical values, demonstrates strong classroom management skills, and is able to inspire students through vocal music instruction and performance opportunities.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesElementary Music Instruction
- Teach eight (8) 30-minute general music classes each week for elementary students.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate music lessons that introduce music theory, rhythm, melody, singing, music history, and appreciation for different music styles
- Coordinate rehearsals, performances, and related activities with school staff and administration.
- Assist students in developing confidence and performance skills through participation in school musicals.
Middle School Choir
- Teach two (2) 45-minute middle school choir classes each week.
- Instruct students in proper vocal technique, music reading, sight singing, and choral performance skills.
- Teach and rehearse multiple vocal parts and harmonies appropriate for middle school singers. (Ability to play parts on a piano)
- Select music that is educationally appropriate, musically challenging, and consistent with the values and mission of the school.
- Prepare students for concerts, chapel presentations, and other performance opportunities.
Qualifications Required
- Active and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Ability to work effectively with children in grades K–8.
- Strong vocal music skills and ability to teach choral parts to middle school students.
- Ability to organize and lead student performances and musical productions.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
Preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Music Education, Music, Choral Conducting, or a related field.
- Previous experience teaching music in an elementary, middle school, or church setting.
- Experience directing children's choirs, school performances, or musical productions.
- Experience selecting and arranging age-appropriate choral literature for middle school students.

- Compensation:$25-$35 an hour.
