Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Escrow Officer role based in the Detroit Metropolitan Area. The Escrow Officer will manage escrow files from opening through closing, including reviewing purchase and refinance contracts, preparing escrow instructions, coordinating with lenders, title companies, and real estate professionals, and ensuring all conditions are met prior to funding. Responsibilities include balancing settlement statements, verifying payoffs and fees, obtaining and reviewing loan documents, and executing accurate and timely closings in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements. The role also involves acting as a primary point of contact for borrowers, answering questions, providing status updates, and delivering a positive, professional closing experience. The Escrow Officer will maintain detailed records, safeguard confidential information, and support continuous process improvements within the escrow and closing team.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in escrow and closing processes, including Escrow and Closings for residential real estate transactions.
- Experience handling Residential Real Estate documents and procedures, with strong attention to accuracy and compliance.
- Customer Service skills with the ability to communicate clearly, manage expectations, and maintain a professional demeanor under time-sensitive conditions.
- Notary commission (or the ability to obtain one promptly) and experience notarizing loan and closing documents.
- Familiarity with mortgage lending practices, settlement statements (e.g., CD, ALTA), and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Proficiency with common closing and title software, as well as standard office productivity tools.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple files and deadlines.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in real estate, finance, or a related field is a plus.
- Prior experience as an Escrow Officer, Closing Agent, or in a similar role within a title, mortgage, or real estate company strongly preferred.
Compensation: $50,000-$70,000 depending on experience.
