What are the responsibilities and job description for the Line Cook/Prep Cook position at Sommerset Pointe Yacht Club?
Come join the SP Yacht Club family! We are looking for a professional line cook to set up stations for service and prepare food to the exact Chef’s specifications. Line cook duties will consist of assisting the Chef with their daily tasks. The successful candidate will play a key role in contributing to providing our guests with relentless hospitality!
Line Cook Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and restaurant standards
- Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies before service
- Ensure food is prepared and presented consistently and accurately
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area at all times
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations
- Assist with food prep, including chopping, portioning, and ingredient preparation
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages to management
- Properly store and label food products
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Work closely with kitchen staff to ensure timely food service
- Maintain quality standards during high-volume service periods
- Assist with receiving and storing deliveries
- Follow opening, closing, and cleaning procedures
- Minimize food waste and practice proper portion control
- Perform other kitchen duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a line cook, prep cook, or similar kitchen role preferred
- Working knowledge of cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety practices
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Food Handler’s Certification (or willingness to obtain) preferred
- Strong food preparation and cooking abilities with attention to quality and consistency
- Excellent time management and ability to multitask under pressure
- Team-oriented with clear communication skills
- Detail-oriented with a focus on cleanliness and organization
- Reliable with a strong work ethic
Located at Sommerset Pointe Yacht Club in Boyne City.
