Summary
The Network Administrator oversee the effective communication of parties at Somerset Trust and ensures the security of the systems and data within. This communication includes: telephone, data network, file transfer, e-mail and the Internet. The network portion encompasses communication data lines, routers, network switches, firewalls and wiring and wireless connectivity.
Essentail Duties and Responsibilities
· Be observant and proactive throughout your duties and daily activity to identify and report appropriate issues to your supervisor and management.
· Assist in the installation and management of firewalls and VPN devices.
· Maintain the Telephone System and Voice Mail including: adds, moves, changes, setup of new users and maintenance.
· Maintain the communication paths and controlling equipment including communications lines, routers, switches, and CSU/DSU.
· Ensure that a constant flow of appropriate update information flows through proper channels to supervisors and management with a goal of achieving re-prioritization of issues when appropriate.
· Monitor and ensure proper performance of the network using reporting and monitoring with software tools.
· Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures
· Assist in IS Help Desk operation as the appropriate level of expertise is required.
· Assist in maintaining inventory.
· Provide after hour support to the end user.
· Understand and support all BSA/AML responsibilities as applicable to the position as well as consistently, accurately, and timely carry out these responsibilities in compliance with the Bank’s internal policies
· Performs additional tasks within the IT Department as requested.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: 1-2 years experiencing managing TCP/IP networks.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
In-depth understanding of firewalls, routers, network switches, cabling requirements, VPN’s, the Internet, and Intranets.
PHYSCIAL DEMANDS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use hands and fingers to operate office equipment, telephones, etc.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus
WORK ENVIRONMENT
· The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
